Detailed information

Product detailed description

All-Season Merino Wool Sleeping Bag 80 cm for Comfortable Sleep

As children grow, their sleep often becomes much more active. They turn over, bend their knees and may change position many times during the night. The 80 cm Merino wool sleeping bag provides plenty of room for natural movement while staying with your child even when a traditional blanket would have been kicked aside long ago.

Inside the sleeping bag, we use soft Merino wool knit. Merino helps manage moisture and regulate thermal comfort during sleep. The outer layer is made from 100% cotton in a neutral grey shade with a playful sheep print.

The sleeping bag has a TOG rating of 0.67 and is recommended for room temperatures of approximately 19–25 °C. Always adjust the clothing worn underneath according to the actual room temperature and your child's individual thermal comfort.

A sleeping bag for a child who never stays still at night

As children grow, the way they sleep often changes too. Some children turn over several times during the night, pull their legs towards their body, stretch out or move from one end of the bed to the other.

A sleeping bag moves together with your child, so there is no need to worry about a blanket being kicked off during the night. Choosing the right size is important – the lower part should provide enough room for the legs, while the neckline and armholes should fit properly.

Simply explained: what does Merino do during sleep?

You can think of Merino as a natural layer that helps balance the conditions around the body. Its purpose is not simply to keep your child warm.

If your child becomes warmer during the night, Merino can help manage the moisture produced by the body. At the same time, it is breathable and its natural structure helps maintain comfortable thermal conditions. This combination of properties is why we also use Merino in our lighter all-season sleeping bags.

  • helps regulate thermal comfort,
  • helps manage excess moisture,
  • is breathable,
  • the soft knit feels pleasant to the touch,
  • naturally helps reduce the build-up of unpleasant odours.

How to choose an 80 cm sleeping bag

The 80 cm measurement refers to the length of the sleeping bag itself, not the height of your child. When choosing the correct size, we recommend measuring your child from the shoulders to the feet and allowing an appropriate amount of extra room for leg movement.

However, choosing a significantly larger size simply to make the sleeping bag last longer is not recommended. If the neckline or armholes are too large, the sleeping bag does not fit your child correctly.

If you are deciding between two lengths, see our guide on how to choose the right sleeping bag size. It includes practical measuring instructions and recommendations for individual sizes.

Our experience from making sleeping bags: children need room, not an oversized bag

With larger sizes, it can be tempting to choose plenty of extra length so that the sleeping bag lasts as long as possible. From our experience, however, a sensible balance works better.

There should be enough room at the bottom for your child to stretch, bend their knees and move naturally. The upper part should still fit properly. This is why we make our sleeping bags in consecutive lengths and recommend moving to the next size according to your child's actual growth.

Why TOG 0.67?

The TOG rating indicates the thermal insulation of a product and provides a useful way to compare sleeping bags with different levels of warmth. This model has a TOG rating of 0.67, making it one of our lighter all-season options.

We recommend it for room temperatures of approximately 19–25 °C. In practice, however, the clothing worn underneath and your child's individual thermal comfort should always be taken into account.

Grey Sheep from 60 to 100 cm

This model is available in 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 cm lengths. If your child is used to sleeping in a sleeping bag, they can simply move on to the next size as they grow without having to change their familiar way of sleeping.

And we know that some children really do not want to give up their sleeping bag. For selected models, we can therefore also make 140 cm and 150 cm sleeping bags to order.

Practical two-way zipper

The sleeping bag fastens with a two-way zipper that can be opened from either direction. This makes dressing and everyday handling easier. On the front, the zipper is covered by a fabric flap.

How to care for Merino so it lasts

One practical advantage of Merino is that it does not automatically need to be washed after every use. If the sleeping bag is not dirty, thorough airing is often sufficient.

When washing is necessary, choose a wool programme at a maximum of 30 °C, use a low spin speed and a detergent suitable for wool. Do not use fabric softener and avoid sudden temperature changes. Always follow the care instructions on the product label.

Frequently asked questions about the 80 cm Merino sleeping bag

What size child is an 80 cm sleeping bag suitable for?

Age and overall height are not the only factors to consider. We recommend measuring your child from the shoulders to the feet and checking that there is enough room for comfortable leg movement while the sleeping bag still fits properly around the neckline and armholes.

Is an 80 cm sleeping bag suitable for a child who moves a lot during sleep?

Yes. A correctly sized sleeping bag provides room for natural leg movement in the lower section and moves together with your child as they change position. Choosing the correct size is important.

Is TOG 0.67 suitable for year-round use?

We recommend this model for room temperatures of approximately 19–25 °C. How much of the year it can be used depends on the actual room temperature, the clothing worn underneath and your child's individual thermal comfort.

How often should I wash a Merino sleeping bag?

If it is not dirty, there is no need to wash it after every use. Thorough airing is often sufficient. When washing is necessary, use a wool programme at a maximum of 30 °C, a low spin speed and a detergent suitable for wool.

What other Grey Sheep lengths are available?

The Grey Sheep sleeping bag is available in 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 cm lengths. For selected models, we can also make 140 cm and 150 cm sleeping bags to order.
