Who says sleeping bags are only for babies and toddlers? Some children have slept in one since they were babies, and over time it simply becomes part of their familiar bedtime routine. The 100 cm Merino wool sleeping bag is designed for older children who have long since outgrown their first sleeping bags but still want to enjoy the comfort they are used to.

On the inside, we use soft Merino wool knit, which helps manage moisture and regulate thermal comfort during sleep. The outer layer is made from 100% cotton in a neutral grey shade with a playful sheep print.

The sleeping bag has a TOG rating of 0.67 and is one of our lighter all-season options. We recommend it for room temperatures of approximately 19–25 °C. Always adjust the clothing worn underneath according to the actual room temperature and your child's individual thermal comfort.

When a child outgrows their sleeping bag but does not want to grow out of sleeping in one

With our largest sizes, parents often tell us the same thing: their child has slept in a sleeping bag since they were little and simply does not want to sleep in anything else. At this stage, it is no longer only a practical alternative to a blanket. The sleeping bag has become part of a familiar bedtime routine and sleeping environment.

That is why we gradually started making larger sizes too. A child does not have to switch to a traditional blanket simply because they have reached a certain age. If they are comfortable in a sleeping bag, they can continue using one as they grow.

Simply explained: why do we use Merino in an all-season sleeping bag?

Merino is not just a material for freezing winter days. One of its main benefits is its ability to manage moisture and help create a comfortable microclimate around the body.

Children move during the night and their thermal comfort can change as they sleep. Soft Merino wool knit helps move moisture away from the body, while its breathability contributes to a comfortable sleeping environment.

How to choose a 100 cm sleeping bag

The 100 cm measurement refers to the length of the sleeping bag itself, not the height of the child. When choosing the right size, we recommend measuring your child from the shoulders to the feet and allowing an appropriate amount of extra room for comfortable leg movement.

With older children, it can be tempting to choose a much larger size so that the sleeping bag lasts longer. However, we do not recommend choosing an excessively oversized sleeping bag. It must still fit correctly around the neckline and armholes.

Our experience from making sleeping bags: sometimes 100 cm really is not the end

When we first started making children's sleeping bags, the largest sizes were nowhere near as popular as they are today. Over time, however, parents of children who have slept in sleeping bags since infancy have come back to us asking for increasingly larger sizes.

That is why even 100 cm does not necessarily have to be the final size. For selected models, we can also make 140 cm or 150 cm sleeping bags to order. These sizes are most often requested for children who have been used to sleeping in a sleeping bag for years and do not want to give up their favourite way of sleeping.

Grey Sheep in five standard sizes

This design is available as standard in 60, 70, 80, 90 and 100 cm lengths. The individual sizes follow on from one another, allowing children to gradually move up to a larger sleeping bag while keeping their familiar design.

There is no need to buy several sizes in advance. We always recommend choosing a sleeping bag that fits your child properly now and moving on to the next length once the current size becomes too short.

For older children, a sleeping bag can be more practical than a blanket

An older child may turn over many times during the night, and a traditional blanket does not always stay where it was at bedtime. A sleeping bag moves together with the child and remains their consistent layer throughout the night.

The roomy lower section provides space for stretching and bending the legs and allows children to change sleeping positions naturally.

TOG 0.67 – a lighter sleeping bag for all-season use

The TOG rating provides a useful way to compare the thermal insulation of different sleeping bags. This model has a TOG rating of 0.67 and is recommended for room temperatures of approximately 19–25 °C.

Always consider the clothing worn underneath, the actual bedroom temperature and your child's individual thermal comfort. The same sleeping bag may be comfortable for different children at slightly different temperatures.

Practical two-way zipper

The sleeping bag features a two-way zipper that can be opened from either direction. This makes dressing and everyday handling easier. On the front, the zipper is covered by a fabric flap.

How to care for a Merino wool sleeping bag

Merino does not need to be washed after every use. If the sleeping bag is not dirty, thorough airing is often sufficient. Gentle and less frequent washing also helps prolong the life of the material.

When washing is necessary, use a wool programme at a maximum temperature of 30 °C, a low spin speed and a detergent suitable for wool. Do not use fabric softener and avoid sudden changes in water temperature.
