A winter footmuff and seat liner in one

Merino wool is a premium natural material, so we wanted parents to enjoy its benefits for more than just a few winter months. That is why we designed this Aqua model as a practical 2-in-1 product that can be used throughout much of the year.

During winter it keeps your baby warm as a cosy merino footmuff. When the weather becomes milder or the car interior is warm, simply unzip and remove the upper section. The lower part remains in the car seat as a soft merino liner, allowing your child to continue enjoying the comfort of natural wool.

Designed to match the shape of a car seat

A baby car seat is not flat. It supports your child in a reclined seating position, which is very different from lying in a stroller bassinet or a crib. A completely flat footmuff often bunches around the baby's waist once installed.

For this reason, we shaped our footmuff to follow the contours of a car seat. It fits naturally inside the seat, reduces unnecessary folds around the waist and provides greater comfort during every journey.

If you place the footmuff on a flat surface, it may not appear perfectly flat. This is intentional rather than a manufacturing defect. It has been designed specifically for use inside a baby car seat.

Designed to fit most infant car seats

The footmuff is suitable for most Group 0+ infant car seats (up to 13 kg). It works with standard 3-point harnesses and with compatible 5-point harness systems where the straps can be disconnected and threaded through the prepared openings.

We developed the pattern to be as universal as possible. Since introducing this model, we have not received feedback that it does not fit a standard infant car seat. As car seat designs vary, we still recommend checking your harness configuration before ordering.

A rear pocket helps keep the footmuff securely positioned inside the car seat and reduces slipping during everyday use.

Simply explained: why merino wool?

Fluffy merino wool creates a natural insulating layer. Tiny air pockets between the fibres help maintain comfortable warmth, while the wool naturally absorbs moisture to create a pleasant environment during travel and winter walks.

Temperature-regulating properties do not replace appropriate clothing. Always dress your baby according to the outdoor temperature, the temperature inside the car and the length of your journey. In a warm vehicle, simply unzip or remove the upper section.

Our manufacturing experience

When developing this footmuff, choosing the materials was only part of the process. We invested just as much attention in its shape, versatility and long-term usability. Rather than creating a smaller version of a stroller footmuff, we designed it specifically for the shape and seating position of an infant car seat.

That is why the upper section can be completely removed, allowing the lower part to continue serving as a comfortable merino seat liner. One product provides warmth in winter and everyday comfort during spring and autumn.

The footmuff combines three carefully selected layers: a water-resistant outer fabric, insulating filling and a lining made from 100% fluffy merino wool knitted onto a textile backing. It contains no sheepskin or animal hide.

When choosing the outer fabric, we were not aiming for the highest possible waterproof rating. Our fabric has a 600 mm / 24-hour waterproof rating, which, after years of manufacturing experience, we have found to be an excellent balance between moisture protection and breathability.

The footmuff is primarily intended for use in a stroller or infant car seat, where the baby is additionally protected by the stroller canopy. It provides reliable protection during snowfall and light to moderate rain but is not designed as outdoor equipment for extreme weather conditions.

A higher waterproof rating often comes at the expense of breathability. That is why we chose a material that helps keep moisture out while still allowing the fabric to breathe, creating a more comfortable environment inside the footmuff.

Caring for fluffy merino wool

Fluffy merino wool may naturally release a small amount of loose fibre, especially during the first weeks of use. This is a normal characteristic of the material rather than a manufacturing defect. Learn more in our article How to Care for Fluffy Merino Wool.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why doesn't the footmuff lie flat?

Because it has been contoured specifically for the shape of an infant car seat. Once installed, it follows the seat more naturally and reduces bunching around your baby's waist.

Can it also be used as a seat liner?

Yes. Simply remove the upper section and continue using the lower part as a soft merino seat liner throughout much of the year.

Will it fit my car seat?

It is designed for most standard Group 0+ infant car seats. Please check your harness system before ordering, especially if you use a 5-point harness.

Is the lining made from genuine sheepskin?

No. We use natural sheep's wool knitted onto a textile backing. Our footmuffs do not contain animal hide or genuine sheepskin.
