Detailed information

Product detailed description

All-Season Merino Wool Sleeping Bag 90 cm for Growing Children

Some children become used to sleeping in a sleeping bag when they are babies and do not want to give it up as they grow. A Merino wool sleeping bag 90 cm allows them to continue with a familiar way of sleeping while providing more room for a growing body and active legs.

The inside is made from a soft Merino wool knit, which naturally helps manage moisture and supports comfortable temperature regulation. The outer layer is made from 100% cotton in a warm brown shade with a playful pattern of white sheep.

The sleeping bag has a TOG rating of 0.67 and is suitable for room temperatures of approximately 19–25 °C. Always adjust the clothing worn underneath according to the actual room temperature and your child's individual needs.

A sleeping bag is not only for babies

Sleeping bags are often associated mainly with babies, but from our experience we know that children who have slept in one from an early age often want to continue using one as they grow.

For them, the sleeping bag can become a familiar part of their bedtime routine. Outgrowing a smaller size does not automatically mean switching to a traditional blanket. Simply choose a longer size that fits your child's current measurements.

Simply explained: why does Merino work in an all-season sleeping bag?

Merino is more than just warm wool for winter. One of its useful properties is its ability to manage moisture and help create a comfortable microclimate around the body.

Think of it as a natural layer that responds to changing conditions during sleep. When your child becomes warmer and starts to perspire, Merino helps move moisture away from the body. This is one of the reasons why we also use it in our lighter all-season sleeping bag with a TOG rating of 0.67.

  • helps support comfortable temperature regulation,
  • helps manage excess moisture,
  • is breathable,
  • the soft knit feels pleasant to the touch,
  • Merino wool naturally helps reduce the build-up of unpleasant odours.

How to choose the right 90 cm sleeping bag size

A 90 cm sleeping bag does not correspond to a child's total height of 90 cm. Your child's head remains outside the sleeping bag, so we recommend measuring from the shoulders to the feet when choosing the correct size.

There should be enough room in the lower section for your child to bend and stretch their legs comfortably. At the same time, the sleeping bag should not be too loose around the neckline and armholes.

For detailed measuring advice, read our guide on how to choose the right sleeping bag size. We recommend choosing according to your child's actual measurements rather than age alone.

Our experience from making sleeping bags: children often want larger sizes

With larger sizes, we often hear the same simple reason from parents: their child has slept in a sleeping bag from an early age, is used to it and does not want to switch to a traditional blanket.

This is why we make sleeping bags in gradually increasing lengths. It is not only about providing more space as a child grows, but also about allowing them to continue with a familiar way of sleeping.

Room for active legs matters for growing children

Growing children can be very active during the night. They turn, bend their legs, stretch and change position. The lower part of the sleeping bag therefore provides plenty of room for natural movement.

At the same time, the sleeping bag moves together with your child. Even if they turn several times during the night, they cannot simply kick it to the other side of the bed like a loose blanket.

How to choose: do not buy an unnecessarily large sleeping bag to grow into

With larger sizes, it can be tempting to skip straight to a much longer sleeping bag so that it lasts as long as possible. However, we recommend choosing according to your child's current measurements.

Enough room for the legs is important, but so is a proper fit around the upper body. If the sleeping bag is unnecessarily loose around the neckline and armholes, the extra length is not an advantage.

A practical two-way zipper

The two-way zipper allows the sleeping bag to be conveniently opened from either direction. It makes dressing and everyday use easier, even with growing children.

How to care for a Merino wool sleeping bag

Merino does not need to be washed after every night. If the sleeping bag is not dirty, thorough airing is often sufficient. This helps reduce unnecessary washing and wear on the material.

When washing is necessary, use a wool programme at a maximum of 30 °C. Choose a detergent suitable for wool, use a low spin speed and do not use fabric softener. Always follow the care instructions on the product label.

For more practical information, read our guide on how to wash Merino wool correctly, where we explain washing, drying and everyday care of Merino products.

What if your child outgrows the 90 cm size?

If your child is used to sleeping in a sleeping bag, there is no reason to stop simply because they have outgrown this size. Measure them again and move on to a longer version.

We therefore also make sleeping bags in larger standard sizes. And because parents sometimes ask us for really large sleeping bags for children who want to continue using them for longer, we can also make 140 cm and 150 cm sleeping bags to order.

Frequently asked questions about the 90 cm Merino sleeping bag

What size child is a 90 cm sleeping bag suitable for?

We recommend choosing the size according to your child's shoulder-to-feet measurement rather than age or total height alone. There should be enough room for leg movement while the sleeping bag fits properly around the neckline and armholes.

Is a 90 cm sleeping bag suitable for a growing child?

Yes. Sleeping bags are not only for babies. If your child is used to sleeping in one and enjoys this way of sleeping, they can gradually move on to larger sizes as they grow.

Is a Merino sleeping bag only suitable for winter?

No. This model has a TOG rating of 0.67 and is suitable for room temperatures of approximately 19–25 °C. We also use Merino for its ability to manage moisture and support comfortable temperature regulation.

What should my child wear underneath the sleeping bag?

Adjust clothing according to the actual room temperature and your child's individual needs. The number of layers underneath can be changed according to the conditions.

Are sleeping bags available in sizes larger than 90 cm?

Yes. We also make larger standard sizes, and 140 cm or 150 cm sleeping bags can be made to order. We often make these larger sizes for children who have been used to sleeping in a sleeping bag from an early age.

How often should I wash a Merino wool sleeping bag?

If it is not dirty, thorough airing is often sufficient. When washing is necessary, use a wool programme at a maximum of 30 °C, a suitable wool detergent, a low spin speed and no fabric softener.

Where is the sleeping bag made?

Our sleeping bags are designed and made in the Czech Republic.
