A footmuff and a merino seat liner in one

We designed our black merino footmuff to be useful for far more than just a few cold winter months. Merino wool is a premium natural material, so we wanted parents to enjoy its benefits throughout much of the year instead of storing the footmuff away once winter ends.

During colder weather it works as a warm insulated footmuff for your baby's first car seat. As temperatures rise or you simply need one less layer, the upper section can be removed in seconds. The lower part then continues to serve as a soft merino seat liner, allowing you to use the same product for much longer.

Designed specifically for infant car seats

An infant car seat is not flat. It supports your baby in a reclined seating position that differs significantly from lying in a bassinet or cot. When a completely flat footmuff is placed inside a car seat, excess fabric often gathers around the baby's waist.

Rather than simply making a smaller version of our stroller footmuff, we created a contoured pattern designed specifically for infant car seats. It follows the natural shape of the seat and helps reduce unnecessary bunching around the middle.

If you place the footmuff on a flat surface, it may not appear perfectly flat. This is intentional rather than a manufacturing defect. It has been designed specifically for use inside an infant car seat and is not intended for use on flat sleeping surfaces.

Universal design for infant car seats

The footmuff is designed for Group 0+ infant car seats (up to 13 kg). It is compatible with standard 3-point harnesses and with compatible 5-point systems where the harness straps can be disconnected and threaded through the prepared openings.

We developed the pattern to be as universal as possible. Since introducing this model, we have not received feedback that it does not fit a standard infant car seat in this category. As individual seat designs vary, we still recommend checking the harness configuration before ordering.

A rear pocket helps secure the footmuff around the top of the seat and reduces movement during everyday use.

Simply explained: why merino wool?

Fluffy merino wool creates a natural insulating layer. Tiny pockets of air remain between the fibres, helping to maintain comfortable warmth. Wool also naturally manages moisture, creating a pleasant environment during winter walks and everyday travel.

Merino's temperature-regulating properties do not replace appropriate clothing. Always dress your baby according to the outdoor temperature, the temperature inside the vehicle and the length of your journey. Inside a warm car, simply unzip or remove the upper section.

Our manufacturing experience

When developing this product, selecting the right materials was only one part of the process. We invested just as much attention in its shape, versatility and long-term usability. Our goal was to create a footmuff that fits naturally inside a car seat and remains useful well beyond the winter season.

That is why the upper section can be completely removed while the lower part continues to serve as a separate merino seat liner. One product provides warmth in winter and everyday comfort during milder weather, eliminating the need to buy two separate accessories.

The footmuff combines three carefully selected layers: a water-resistant outer fabric, insulating filling and a lining made from 100% fluffy merino wool knitted onto a textile backing. It contains no sheepskin or animal hide.

When selecting the materials, we were not aiming for the highest possible waterproof rating at any cost. Our outer fabric has a 600 mm / 24-hour waterproof rating, which, after years of manufacturing experience, we have found to be an excellent balance between moisture protection and breathability.

The footmuff is intended primarily for use in a stroller or infant car seat, where your baby is protected not only by the outer fabric but also by the stroller canopy. It provides reliable protection during snowfall and light to moderate rain, but it is not designed as outdoor equipment for extreme weather conditions.

A higher waterproof rating often comes at the expense of breathability. That is why we chose a material that helps keep moisture out while still allowing the fabric to breathe, creating a more comfortable environment inside the footmuff.

Black is one of our most popular colours because it looks elegant and matches almost every stroller and infant car seat. However, we believe it is fair to mention one practical detail. On black fabric, light-coloured merino fibres and small lint particles are naturally more visible than on lighter colours. This is simply a visual contrast and does not affect the quality or performance of the footmuff.

Caring for fluffy merino wool

Fluffy merino wool may naturally release a small amount of loose fibre, especially during the first weeks of use. On the black version, these light-coloured fibres are naturally more noticeable because of the colour contrast. This is a normal characteristic of the material rather than a manufacturing defect. Why doesn't the footmuff lie completely flat?
