Merino fleece – a different form of merino wool

Do you love merino wool but prefer something less fluffy than a classic long-pile merino lining? This extendable stroller footmuff offers merino in a different form. The inside is lined with soft fleece made from 100% merino wool, with a short and compact surface without long fibres.

Merino fleece is neither better nor worse than our classic merino lining – it is simply different. It has a smoother, less bulky appearance and is a great alternative for parents who prefer a less fluffy finish.

As merino fleece has a shorter pile than our classic merino lining, we have also adapted the construction of this footmuff and used a thicker insulation layer.

100% merino fleece without long fibres

The inner layer is made from 100% merino wool with a fabric weight of 210 g/m². Merino wool can absorb and release moisture and helps create a comfortable microclimate around your child.

Unlike our classic fluffy merino lining, merino fleece has a short, soft and compact surface. For this version, we have combined black outer fabric with black merino fleece for a clean, simple and timeless look.

An extendable footmuff that adapts as your child grows

The footmuff can be used in both carrycots and pushchairs. In its shorter configuration, it measures approximately 90 cm. By attaching the lower foot section, it can be extended to approximately 115 cm, making it suitable for older children too.

We have also thought about the stage when children are already walking and climb into the pushchair wearing their shoes. The inside of the removable foot section is therefore made from practical outer fabric. Dirt from shoes can simply be wiped away with a damp cloth without having to wash the entire footmuff.

If the foot section becomes more heavily soiled, it can be removed and washed separately in the washing machine at 30 °C. This means there is no need to wash the main part with merino fleece every time shoes leave a few marks behind.

Use the removable foot section as a handy bag

When your child only needs the shorter version of the footmuff, the removable foot section does not have to stay at home. It has loops on the sides, allowing you to attach your own shoulder strap and use it as a handy bag for nappies, spare clothes or other stroller essentials.

The shoulder strap is not included with the footmuff. You can use a detachable strap from another bag.

Practical design for everyday stroller use

Openings in the back allow the footmuff to be used with common 3-point and 5-point safety harnesses. The upper section can be tightened around the child's head when needed to create a more snug and cosy space.

The front panel can be opened with the zips or removed completely. A reflective element on the front helps improve visibility in low-light conditions.

How to care for a footmuff with merino fleece

Merino wool does not need to be washed after every use. We recommend airing the footmuff regularly between washes and washing it only when it is actually soiled.

Gently hand wash the footmuff in lukewarm water at a maximum temperature of 30 °C. Use only detergents specifically designed for wool. Do not use conventional laundry detergents or fabric softener.

Do not tumble dry. While still damp, gently reshape the footmuff and leave it to dry flat, away from direct heat sources and sunlight.

For additional care, you can use a wool conditioner containing lanolin. When storing the footmuff for longer periods, we recommend protecting it from moths.

Neither version is better or worse. Merino fleece is simply an alternative for parents who prefer a smoother and less fluffy surface. Choose the type of merino that feels right for you and your child.
